Ok - so generally for early start games you arrive and have the choice of
just about anywhere to park your car. Just a reminder to think carefully
where it is you are parking your prize beamer, jag, or merc, as although
you may be conveniently closer to all amenities (for that quick exit with
your guide dog) it's not always better... as I witnessed in round 1.

In the game I refereed on the final play the winning team #10, knowing time
had expired, punt kicked a low ball towards the sideline..which rocketed
towards the street (Griffith #2) and directly into the side mirror of a
ford station wagon. The thud and collective cries of "aaaawwwwwwhhhhhh - ha
ha ha ha ha" instantly told the story of the mirror and casing being
obliterated into about a 1000 pieces!

But it gets worse! (click on 'read more' on the right)

Only 15 minutes into the game between Hall and Goulburn this weekend past, as we packed a scrum, the small country town of Hall, ACT  was rocked by an explosion. At first, everyone on the ground thought one of the country lads had let off a homemade bomb.

But no, the No 9 for Goulburn was standing, white faced, with a disintegrated Gilbert rugby ball at his feet!

This is the Sunday before school returns and just one week before the Junior competition commences.

The Coaching, Grading and Appointments Committee has released the first Senior Grading for 2012.

It is looking very thin at the top of the list!
Get out there, get fit and opportunities to show your ability will surely arise.

Show me the List!

The powerpoint presentations of our first development meeting for 2012 is now on the website in the Education page.

During the meeting a question was raised regarding the Brumbies vs Sharks games and if the referee should have allowed the restart after time had expired after the Brumbies has converted to narrow the margin to 3 points. The iRB clarrification was mentioned. Allan Casey has kindly followed up and provided the clarification. Please make sure you read it - it might happen in your game this season and you need to know what to do!

Ruling in Law by the Designated Members of the Rugby Committee:
The WRU request a Ruling related to time at the end of a match.

Just a reminder at the commencement of the season to check out the clips on the ACTRRA YouTube channel. These clips of live action will show you how other ACT referees have managed different elements of the game. You can learn from what they have done which can provide valuable assistance to help improve your game management and how you might apply and interpret the Laws.
