_General Association Information
Association Crest
The association has a crest that is embroidered/printed onto the refereeing jersey worn by members and which signifies that the individual is an accredited official. The ARU is responsible for determining accreditation requirements and criteria and provides a National Accreditation Certificate, indicating the course and level completed, for presentation to members who successfully complete each course. Consequently, the association does not award badges when a member completes the accreditation requirements.
Insurance
At the time a person attends an accreditation course (for the first time) they must complete an ARU Insurance Form that covers the referee in case of serious injury to them or to players under their control whilst on the field. It is a requirement of the ARU that this form be completed each year that the person is a member of the referees Association and continues to be active in officiating. A person will not be appointed to officiate at a game unless they have completed an insurance form and lodged this with the Referees Association.
Code of Conduct
A person who joins the referees Association must also sign the ARU Code of Conduct and lodge this with the association.
Meetings
General
The Referee Association meets on three occasions during the year to consider business matters relating to its operation. These meetings are held in February, June in conjunction with Referee meetings and in November. The November meeting is the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
Referee meetings
The association conducts a regular program of meetings throughout the year, commencing at the end of February, to provide on-going training and education for all members. Dates of these meetings and information on the education program is provided on the association website and in the weekly newsletters published by the association.
Annual General Meeting
At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in November, the Association elects is office bearers, presents to its members the annual report, determines the annual subscription for the forthcoming year and addresses any other items of business raised by the members.
