Congratulations Greg Corin on your award of the Australian Police Medal. The Australian Police Medal is awarded for distinguished service by a member of an Australian police force.
Sergeant Gregory James CORIN, Sergeant Gregory Corin commenced his career with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in 1987. After recruit training, he was posted to Sydney, where he worked in a number of operational areas, including Close Personal Protection. In 1993 he transferred to ACT Policing where he was assigned to Belconnen and Civic police stations. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2003. In 1995 he deployed as part of the United Nations Force in Cyprus, and then in 1999 he deployed to the United Nations Assistance Mission in East Timor. On his return from East Timor he was assigned to the Perth office and then to the Canberra office in 2001. In 2011, he deployed to Afghanistan where he provided training and mentoring to the Afghan National Police, as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. On completion of his Afghanistan deployment in 2012 he was assigned to the Specialist Response Group and held key roles in the planning, preparedness and delivery of numerous major events, including the Group of Twenty (G20) meeting 2014, the Cricket World Cup 2015 and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He was again deployed in 2014 to the Ukraine, as part of the International response to the downing of flight MH17. In 2019 he returned to the Close Personal Protection and is currently the Team Leader of the Governor-General's Protection Team. He is also a highly regarded, respected and long serving member of the Ceremonial and Protocol Officers (CAPO) Network that voluntarily undertakes the planning and delivery of numerous police events including, Police funerals, National Police Remembrance Day services, Dignitaries visits and State funerals. Sergeant Corin has served the AFP, locally in the ACT, nationally and internationally with distinction for over 34 years.
